Beautiful chair with machined and curved metal frame Designer Gastone Rinaldi for Rima 1950’s
Gastone Rinaldi was born in Padua in 1920, and graduated in accountancy from the Belzoni Institute. Initially he worked for the Rima company in Via Guido Reni in Padua, founded by his father Mario Rinaldi in 1916.In his work as a designer, he came into contact with many leading Italian designers, including Giò Ponti, Carlo Mollino, Alberto Rosselli, Franco Campo and Carlo Graffi, Michele De Lucchi and Marco Zanuso. In 1954 he won the Compasso d’Oro award with the DU30 chair produced by Rima.In 1974 he founded the company Thema in Limena. In 1981 his Dafne chair produced in 1979 received a mention at the Compasso d’Oro, as did the Aurora in 1981. The Saturno sofa is part of the prestigious collection of the MoMA Museum of Modern Art in New York.Rinaldi also had an intense sporting activity.Gastone Rinaldi died in Padua in 2006.
